Although radio has lost its title as the 'Wonder of Science' because of various latest scientific inventions, it is a part and parcel of our modern life. It is an easy means of entertainment. A radio is not very expensive. Anybody, rich or poor, can buy it and enjoy its various programs from in any part of the world.

It is also a means of communication. Various important issues are broadcast on the radio. Different types of governmental programs are announced on the radio. As a result, people can be aware of the government's idea. Warning of different types is broadcast on the radio too. Different types of programs are also broadcast on the radio. Among them the news is very important to us. A radio broadcasts news at every hour. It also broadcasts weather forecast. As a result, people of different occupations become aware of it.
Education is the utmost target of any country. Radio broadcasts various educational programs to educate people. Today sports of different kinds have become very familiar to us because of satellite technology. A radio broadcasts different types of sports commentary. It also broadcasts various public welfare programs.

Bangladesh is a developing country. A mass media like radio can play an important role in the media sector. our technology is not so rich. As radio is possessed by almost everybody of our country, it is used as a medium to educate the illiterate people. It broadcasts family planning programs and makes people conscious of it. It also broadcasts about various fatal diseases like cancer, AIDS etc., their cause and effect and their prevention. Thus it makes us conscious of those diseases. Educational program is my favorite program. I listen to it regularly. People can be benefited by such a program. In a word, radio is very useful to us. It broadcasts various important programs. It is a means of entertainment as well as communication.
